PMS HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS


Stayntouch PMS is a native cloud-based system accessible through any modern web browser, with Google Chrome as the recommended browser for best performance. The platform is device agnostic and can be used on desktops, laptops, or tablets, provided the device supports browser access and has a stable internet connection. There are no additional workstation hardware specifications required for day-to-day PMS use, however should you wish to have your terminal/device accept EMV payments or cut keys you will need to use our native app on a supported device (see under Stayntouch Guest Kiosk Requirements).


To connect to Stayntouch PMS, the hotel must maintain a reliable internet service with sufficient bandwidth to support day-to day operational needs. Under normal conditions, Stayntouch PMS consumes minimal bandwidth; however, usage may temporarily increase during activities, such as printing reports or downloading exported data. Stayntouch recommends a minimum of 10–20 Mbps dedicated bandwidth per hotel, depending on the number of active workstations and users. Please perform a speed test, free of charge, by going to www.speedtest.net. You should then share the result with us by taking a screenshot or by clicking the Share This Result button and copying the link and sending it to us at onboarding@stayntouch.com.

PMS BROWSER RECOMMENDATIONS


Stayntouch PMS Environment URLs can be accessed on any internet browser; however, we recommend Google Chrome for best performance.

INTERFACE PC REQUIREMENTS


For on-property integrations, where servers are not located on the cloud (e.g., keys, PBX, WiFi, etc.), an interface PC is required.


Please find below the hardware requirements for the interface PC. 

* Virtual PCs are not recommended

* Must be a dedicated interface PC

  • Windows Server 2022/Windows 11 Professional (Windows 10 also supported)
  • Minimum drive requirements—128GB SSD or 250GB HDD (Not sure what the difference is? Read about it here.)
  • Minimum 8GB RAM
  • Minimum of 2 VACANT USB ports
  • Computer must be connected to the local network and have access to the internet


Please name this PC “SNT- Property Code- Interface PC”, or provide the name of the PC for our records.

    

For serial connections, the property will need to have the proper cable in place at the time of integration. If you are looking for a recommendation, we have had success with this type of cable.


If you will need an IP/serial converter, this recommendation comes directly from Comtrol. Comtrol provides enterprise integration to the hospitality industry. Hotels and PMS providers worldwide use Comtrol Lodging Link to connect property management systems (PMS) with peripheral service systems (GSS devices). These systems include standard guest services systems like phone systems, keyless locks, room energy management, television services, and on-site POS systems. STAYNTOUCH GUEST KIOSK REQUIREMENTS


Please note, this only applies to customers that have purchased Stayntouch Guest Kiosk.

iPad Hardware Recommendation


For Stayntouch Guest Kiosk, we recommend the iPad Pro 12.9-inch, 128GB. Smaller iPads (i.e., 10.9-inch) also work well; however, the larger iPads provide more surface area to type, which suits some guests better. The property is responsible for ordering the iPads and any protective cases/handles. Be sure to order accessories that are compatible with the model of iPad being purchased.

Power Cables


Be mindful of the cables at the spot where you would like the kiosk to be; power and network cables should be sufficient. Keep in mind that if you want a payment terminal and a key encoder next to it, they both need power and network.

AirPrint Enabled


If you want to print anything, the printer should be AirPrint enabled (most of our customers do not have printers though; all printers today have eco mode and take up to 30 seconds to "wake up"). Relevant documentation such as guests' welcome registration cards, or Invoices on check out can all be emailed directly to the customer avoiding the need for, and maintenance of, local air-printers.

Additional Hardware


Please note, most iPads come with white cables that are quite noticeable. Finding cables of a similar color to your hardware along with some "elbow" connectors can help make these cables almost "fade away".


If you set up up payment or key printing devices, make sure that all devices can easily be reached/serviced for troubleshooting in the future. Even powering on and off is sometimes difficult to do if this is not considered and the equipment is built in.

Kiosk Stands


Clients have worked with imageHOLDERS for custom-build stands; here is a sample deployment. 

Heckler Design stands are also another alternate option .

However, for a simpler solution, with ability to lock the stands, the following is a good option to consider:

  • iPad Pro 12.9-inch or iPad 10.9-inch – Space Kiosk from Maclocks


One of the most popularly used iPad enclosures/stands is via our partners at imageHOLDERS, they have produced iPad enclosures for several hotels on Stayntouch PMS. The first image below is an imageHOLDERS stand. Because their enclosures are custom, they can come with holders for the credit card device and key encoders, they are typically priced around USD 3,000.

EMV TERMINAL REQUIREMENTS


Here is some information about supported payment gateways and EMV device models:


Based on the property’s needs, you will need to order EMV devices to support Front Desk PCs, network EMV devices, standalone kiosks with dedicated network EMV devices, handheld iPads, or wireless mobile EMV devices.

KEY ENCODER REQUIREMENTS
