Automatic End of Day

For properties with automatic End of Day configured, Stayntouch PMS will run EOD at the predetermined time. Prior to this, we recommend reviewing all arrivals to determine if there are any actions or notes that indicate guests should be preregistered for early arrival for the following day. It is important to check all arrivals before EOD runs, because otherwise these reservations will switch to no shows, even if the guest is already in the room. In the example below, we have an arrival where there’s no indication this should take place.

If there were still any departures, these would go to CHECKED OUT (WITH BALANCE) after EOD runs.

As with the end of any shift, you should ensure that your cashier has been closed from Front Desk > Cashier. Otherwise, the cashier will be closed by the PMS during EOD, and there will be an open balance for the next day.

We also recommend checking the Actions Manager from Actions > Action Manager to review any outstanding actions for the property for the day.

You may also want to follow up with the specific department to see why this action was not taken care of, and it may be in your interest to change the date of the action to tomorrow’s date to make sure it is still followed up on if necessary.

With all of this reviewed, Stayntouch PMS will automatically process EOD at the indicated time. To verify that EOD is running, you can simply select an action, such as clicking into the ARRIVALS tile from the Dashboard, and you’ll see that the EOD routine is in progress. Furthermore, at the top of the screen, you’ll see an “End of Day Routine in Progress” message flashing in orange while EOD is running. It is possible to continue using Stayntouch PMS while EOD is in progress; however, we recommend that you don’t process any credit card transactions or print any guest invoices while Stayntouch PMS is going through the process of posting room and tax charges. EOD should only take a few moments to run, and if you REFRESH the page from Front Desk > End of Day, you may even get a “Business date has changed” message if EOD is already complete.

You can also verify that EOD is complete by clicking into any tile on the dashboard, and this will show you that the process has been completed and that the business date has changed.
