Out of Service Rooms Allowed to Be Checked In? (Released)

When a room is placed out of service it allows the front desk to check a guest into that room still? If a room is placed out of service it should not remove this from inventory (that is what out of order if for) however it should block the front desk from being able to check someone into that room while it is in "out of service" state. An example of this was room 301 yesterday late afternoon during check ins. 301 was placed out of service and we were able to check a guest into the room without putting the room back in service first.

Dear Stay 'n Touch-

Out of service reservations should NOT be allowed to be checked in by the Front Desk.  I understand that out of order removes rooms from inventory, but what if a room has a maintenance issue that can be fixed prior to check-in time and can be rented.  Please call/e-mail me if you'd like to discuss further, but this is basic basic rooms operations 101.  Thank you for listening!

Would like to second this comment.  Is it possible to add an option to prevent check-in to an Out of Service room, similar to the current option to prevent checking into a room that is not inspected?

Additionally, I strongly recommend adding an alert that triggers if the user attempts to place an occupied room into Out of Order status.  Currently, there is no alert or pop-up, and it is possible to have an In-House guest placed in an Out of Order room due to this.

Appreciate your speedy response to this issue, as these items are negatively impacting our operational ability.

I would like to second the comments above and hope you are still working on a fix for this.  We just ran into this issue last night.  In theory, the whole point should be to make it impossible to assign until the out of service is lifted.  For the longest time we weren't even using Out of Service since it seemed to serve no purpose if a guest can still be checked in.

It is important that each PMS have unique features but there are some systematical processes that should be considered and this is one of them.  The PMS should assist the team in all efforts to ensure minimum errors as long as the correct data is entered.  When a room is OOS, we do not want to take our of inventory but we do not want to use it at this time but we are depending on our team's memory.  If a room OOS is needed, the system should make us go through a step of putting it back into service not a simple assigning of a room and check in.  Please consider updates on this area.

I agree, OOS rooms should not be available when searching for a room to assign a guest, let alone check the guest into that room.  SNT current settings allow OOS rooms to be checked into which is very concerning.  When an OOS room is assigned, there is no prompt or notification that reminds the user of the status of the chosen room.  Please consider changing these settings.

I am in complete agreeance with Cynthia, updates here should be seriously considered.

Another vote for this suggestion.  only graying out the room when selecting is not enough to prevent a check-in on a OOS room.
