How To Fix Issues With Stayntouch & Toast Communication


If Toast transactions with gratuity are being declined in Stayntouch PMS, returning the error “Applying a tip to check #9 failed. Reason: Payment failed to process. Please try again later or contact Stayntouch Support,” please follow the steps below.


1. Select Payments on the left side of the screen.



2. Select Payment Methods, and then Other Payment Options.



3. Select the name of the Other Payment Option; ours is called Room Charge.



4. Scroll down to Allow Paid Check Status and select Yes.



All future checks created after this change will be marked as Paid instead of Closed and will allow for tips to be adjusted. If there are any checks currently open that need tips added, you will have to:


1. Reopen the check.


2. Void the charged payment.


3. Charge to Room Charge or whatever the name of the Other Payment Option is in your POS.


4. Add Tip.
