Troubleshooting Auto Gratuity When Not Posting Correctly
If you notice that auto gratuity is not being posted correctly on guest checks, the issue likely stems from how tip, service fee, and gratuity charge codes are mapped at the outlet level in Stayntouch PMS. This issue will occur if:
All three fields—tip, service fee, and gratuity—are mapped to the same charge code.
This mapping conflict causes the integration to flag the codes as duplicates, preventing proper processing and posting of the gratuity.
Importantly, the integration prioritizes outlet-level mappings over global settings, which means even if global settings are correct, the outlet-level conflict overrides them.
To resolve the issue:
Access the restaurant outlet configuration in Stayntouch PMS via Settings > Integrations > POS Integrations > Toast > RESTAURANTS.
Update the charge code mappings:
Assign unique charge codes to each field: one for tip, one for service fee, and one for gratuity.
Use the charge code structure as a reference for correct configuration.
Save the changes to apply the updated mappings.
Once these changes are made, the system will process each field correctly, ensuring that auto gratuity and other charges are posted as expected.
