Room Revenue Calculated According to Charge Code Configuration
The revenue you see in the various reports in Stayntouch PMS depends on two key fields of charge code configuration:
- Charge Group
- Charge Code Type
Charge Group is definable and configurable based on your hotel's needs and on your hotel's reporting requirements. They are used to group the revenue in the Journal and the Comparison Report.
Charge Code Type is system-defined, which means it is built into the code and cannot be changed by anyone. This is used in the Daily Production Reports and Market Segment Statistics Report. In these reports, when you see Room Revenue, it includes the revenue from charge codes with a Charge Code Type of ROOM. When you see Other Revenue, it includes the revenue from charge codes that have a Charge Code Type of OTHER. And so on. Therefore, the ADR will only consider revenue from the Charge Code Type of ROOM.
As per this logic, you can decide the type of revenue you want to show as ROOM REVENUE, which will also affect your ADR.
Below are some screenshots to illustrate how this works.
As illustrated in the screenshot below, the below charge codes and others contribute to room revenue and ARR/ADR calculations in the Daily Production Reports and Market Segment Statistics Report.
NOTE: You are able to set charge code 1400 as a Charge Code Type of ROOM and set the other room-related codes as OTHER, in which case your room revenue in the Market Segment Statistics Report, Daily Production Reports, and Forecast Report will show revenue only from charge code 1400. However, in whichever way you set these codes, your reports will show the revenue that way.
The charge groups you create will display in the Comparison Report and the Journal as per the screenshots below.
We recommend you discuss your requirements internally with the concerned departments in your hotel and change the settings as applicable.
