Allow Time Out Limit to be Assigned by Role

Our Reservations team has a need for StayNTouch windows to be active for quite a substantial period of time to best serve our guests, and multitask for efficiency, however, for security reasons our front desk staff should have a 3-5 minute time out period.

It would be useful if we could have the policy be different for different roles.

Thank you for your reply. The reservations team is requesting this feature. We are aware that log-out time can be adjusted by hotel. Our request is that this be allowed by user. This is by far the most disruptive function we have to deal with consistently.

Any updates on this feature? Thanks!

Would you please provide an update and let us know if this is a possibility to create? A response would be appreciated. Thank you.

Is there any news on this issue?

Please update! A longer timeout period would allow for us to better serve our guests. The previous update of being logged out but having our session continue where we left off is very inconsistent. Sometimes, it happens, but most of the time we have to start completely over. It is unnecessarily time consuming.

Hi again. Any chance this is something you could add to your pipeline?

Hello again. Can you add this as a feature request? The onsite teams at each hotel need to have a shorter log-out time, but members in the reservations team and other corporate members do not need to be logged out at all. We all work remotely and no one else is using our computers. We must use multiple tabs in our browser with multiple SNT tabs open to go back and forth between guest stays, checking availability, etc. It's a pain to have to be kept to the onsite team's restrictions. I appreciate your consideration.

That would be an amazing feature to have.

I appreciate the response. Thank you!

Hi All,

While the timeout is configurable by hotel, it is unfortunately not configurable by user role. There are actually some security requirements around this in certain locations and while this is still up to the hotel to decide on how they wish to proceed, it will be difficult to manage on user role basis and still be compliant with current security protocols.

Yet - happy to have an open ear for the requests and discuss it with our security team.

- Is everyone aware that the log out time can be change on hotel level for all users within the hotel? i.e. if you wish to have a longer log out time than 3 or 15 minutes, it can be changed in the Hotels Set up.

- if your session is being discontinued and you are being redirected to the dashboard, this would not be intended and in this case it would be something we need to address. If you can record your previous  session / action, we can try to recreate the scenario and fix it

- Is Housekeeping the main department that would need a different log out time? As long as they keep their session, is it really such a nuisance having to reenter the password? Some of our customers also have the iPad mounted to the cart or use an iPad mounted to a floor wall, so it would just be a concern to leave it logged in with the housekeeper possibly not even nearby but I am happy to receive more detailed feedback on this as said.

Thanks,

Hi Matt,

Unfortunately this is currently not in our pipeline. We have changed our time out logic to keep the current session active, meaning if the user gets logged out he / she will be able to pick up the work again where they left it off when they re-enter the password, which we believe makes the most sense. The previous logic of reloading the entire application and reset the user to the dashboard was cumbersome indeed.

For now, we are not planning any more immediate changes to this module, but we will leave this request open of course as we may remodel the next time we work in this area.

Thank you for your feedback,
