Credit Card Authorizations & 3rd Party Interfaces
In many hotels, guests will use the credit card they have on file with Rover to make purchases with 3rd party interfaces (like phones, restaurants, spas, movies, wifi, etc.). Now with the Payment Gateway Setting, Rover can be configured to either always authorize or always bypass credit card authorization for postings associated with 3rd party interfaces. This setting only affects incoming postings associated with 3rd party interfaces. If a purchase is added to the guest’s bill through Rover, Rover will still verify the guest's credit amount for the card on file.
For example, when the Payment Setting is set to:
On: Rover will run credit authorizations for 3rd party interfaces, and the posting is declined if the credit limit has been exceeded for the card on file.
Off: Rover will not run credit card authorizations for 3rd party interfaces, and the posting will go through regardless of the amount on the card.
By default, this authorization is set to On, so it does need to be turned Off for properties that would like to bypass the credit card authorization for 3rd party interfaces.
Step 1. Locate Settings & Parameters
- From the sidebar menu, select Settings > Hotel & Staff > Settings & Parameters.
Step 2. Set to On or Off
- Toggle On or Off depending on your's hotels preferences.
- The example below is Off. In this scenario, Rover would not authorize the credit card amount associated with 3rd party postings.
