How do I do a preauthorization on a group or house account?

Pre-authorizations are not currently offered on a group or house account. As alternatives, you could explore doing them directly in in your payment gateway or on a guest's reservation. We will leave your feature request open to let our product team know that you would like this enhancement.

Thanks, Julia - we don't seem to have access to use our Shift4 terminals manually to do a preauthorization (only allows us to access via SNT). Would this be a ticket with you or with Shift4?

Hi Kelsey,

Apologies that my answer wasn't clear; you could explore doing a pre-authorization on a guest's reservation directly in Stayntouch - that isn't on the terminal.

The other option I suggested exploring was in your payment gateway - that wouldn't be the terminal either... that would be Shift4's Lighthouse Transaction Manager. Since I don't work for Shift4 I am not an expert, but here is an article I found on their helpdesk about that - I believe you would want to use the "Auth Only" option, and then manually release it when the group is completed.
