Authorization Release Question

Hello!

I was hoping you could help solve a puzzle.

Our hotel has a $100/night incidental hold, which is meant to ensure we are able to collect payment for any additional charges the guest may incur. What we are currently finding is that after the guest checks out, we are not able to access that buffer, because the authorization has been released. This is causing issues in charging for damages found, items purchased from the private bar, and restaurant charges posted after departure, as the cards are unable to be charged. We are not finding one card type, or bank, are more susceptible than others, or that the amount charged is making a significant difference.

I am hoping you may be able to tell us if this release is on the stayntouch end of the pipeline, or if it may be controlled by Shift4.
