Reservation Updates Between SNT and outside channels

Every time there is a change made to a reservation in a connected channel (ie. Airbnb), our team has to manually update the reservation in Stay N Touch as the changes to not transfer over to our room diary. This is a huge strain on our operations and is something that is vital for us to have as soon as possible. Thank you!

Hi Anna,

This doesn't seem right... most properties do not have to do this. Are your listings set up as hotel listings that are running through your channel manager where the reservation is made through the channel manager (doesn't require manually making them in the PMS)?

If not, they are probably set up as more traditional Airbnb listings for houses/apartments that are not integrated with your channel manager - to my understanding, Airbnb doesn't support an integration for those type of listings and therefore would require a lot of manual management (which is why most properties would choose to set up as a hotel).

If they are set up as hotel listings, I would suggest asking Airbnb why this is happening and asking for the logs where they are sending the reservation updates to the channel manager - it sounds like they aren't being received.

Hi Julia, Thanks so much for your message! Our listings in Airbnb are categorized as "apartments" in the Airbnb app, which is probably the reason. If we change the category- you are saying it should go through when a change is made to a reservation and a guest is already checked in?

Do we need to make this change to "Hotel" in both Airbnb and Siteminder or could be just do it in siteminder so that from a front facing perspective in Airbnb, we are still an "Apartment." thanks!

Hi Anna,

My pleasure! Yes, that is the reason why you are having to handle bookings manually. Ultimately though, it is probably a larger conversation for your team on if it is worth it or not based on the volume you are doing... often times the commission fees for an "apartment" are much lower than a "hotel" - so it would change your financials pretty significantly from my experience.

If it is something you would like to pursue, I suggest asking the Airbnb team about it. They probably would have you build a whole new listing that is set up as a hotel from the get go - and then that listing would have the option on the Airbnb side to connect to Siteminder (which then of course connects to Stayntouch for automatic reservation delivery including modifications and cancellations).

Hope this helps,

Julia
