Group Shoulder Date Functionality Improvements

A request has been made by Surf Hotel & Chateau who uses shoulder dates with many of their groups to improve the overall group inventory logic / shoulder date functionality so that:

  • Reservations can be made from the create reservation screen with shoulder dates without adding another room to the room block inventory for the primary dates of stay. Since this cannot be done, the workaround is to create a reservation for the primary dates of stay and then extend the stay to the shoulder dates.

Also related to the workaround:
  • When arrival/departure dates are extended to shoulder dates at the same time from the Stay Card and borrow from house is used to add the shoulder night inventory, another room is added to the group block for the primary dates.
  • When users extend to shoulder dates from the “Nights” section of the Stay Card (even 1 at a time) it always adds another room to the room block for the primary dates of stay.

We often have guests for wedding blocks come in a day or two early. Is there any way an option could be added to make the shoulder rates match BAR? When BAR changes, shoulder rates also change. This way they would only be getting the group discount for the night(s) we want it to apply.

For now, I have added a shoulder and manually set the rate to match outside of the block. This means I will have to change the shoulder rates in each block every time I change the BAR. The other option would be to have everyone make 2 reservations every time someone wants to book a stay a day or two before or after a block and this would be even more inconvenient.

I agree with Makenna's comment above. We too have weddings with contracted dates on weekends alone and guests who want to come early or stay later than these weekend dates are either having to make separate reservations or are frustrated with the group rate on shoulder dates being higher than BAR rate. The shoulder dates need to have a better function to change whether it be to match BAR or an option to derive it from the group rate +/- a set dollar amount, having to type each rooms rate on each date is a huge time consumer.
