Maximum Incidental Authorization Amounts
Royal Canadian Lodge would also like to have the option to cap the incidental amount to a max of 4 nights, similar to the full auth at check-in
The Maritime Hotel would like to have the option to cap the incidental to $ amount instead of nights, and would be even better if there is a flexibility to enter the authorization amount at check-in.
For more context,
In Stayntouch, when a guest has a reservation for 10 nights, the system automatically authorizes the full amount for:
- 10 nights of room and tax
- $100 per night for incidentals
InOpera, we had the flexibility to manually adjust the authorization amount at check-in. For example, When a guest stays formore than 5 nights, we normallycap the incidental authorization at $500,regardless of the total length of stay. For example, if a guest had a 10-night reservation, we could manually set the incidental hold to$500instead of allowing the system to hold $1,000. This helps avoid unnecessarily large holds on the guest’s credit card, which can lead to guest complaints or declined transactions.
However, in Stayntouch, we are unable to modify the pre-set authorization amount during check-in. To maintain our $500 cap policy for longer stays, the only workaround is to:
- Check the guest in without authorizing the credit card, and then
- Go back into Stay Card to manuallyauthorize a total amountthat includes room/tax andonly $500 for incidentals.
This adds extra steps and could potentially create risks if authorization is forgotten or not completed correctly.
Hello StayNTouch,
At check-in we authorize for the full amount stay + $80 per night of an incidental hold up to a maximum of 3 nights.
For guests who are with us longer than 3 nights we have a "process" to authorize for the correct amount, but boy howdy is it messy.
Being that StayNTouch does not allow for a maximum number of nights for an incidental hold, our agents must skip the initial authorization, make keys, and then authorize for the necessary amount as the last step of the check-in process. This process is very easy to mess up. As it is now, we can specify a maximum number of nights for Full Stay authorization but not for any additional authorization. It would be a total game changer (for us specifically and I am sure other StayNTouch users as well) to specify a maximum number of nights for additional authorizations.
Sincerely,
