annoying behaviour date selection in activity log for Company/Travel Agent

Suppose I want to select a certain date range in the Activity Log for a Company.
The 2 dates are set by default to the current date, and that is fine.

Suppose now I want to select all activities between January 1 and today's date. Once January 1 is selected in the start date, this changes automatically the end date as well!


The expectation is that the end date is left as is (defaulted to the current date).

This strange behaviour of the date ranges is unfortunately not limited to the activity log for Companies, it seems to be around in a lot of the reports
