Love this idea! Of course, different hotels will have a different pattern in demand, but many do see the Friday Saturday nights as the weekend demand. It would be a nice idea to have the option in the hotel settings to state that weekends start on either friday or saturday. I have seen this with many other PMS's.
Yes, please! This is basically just a bug... it's been broken for years.

Bode Nashville and Chattanooga request that the weekend shading/coloring in the rate manager and availability matrix. Hotels read weekends as Friday Saturday for pricing and strategy not Saturday Sunday.
