Disable key creation before check-in

We have had an issue occur a few times where a user creates a key without checking a guest in, resulting in a "No show."  

Perhaps key creation can be disabled/unavailable until after the guest is checked in.
Or a pop-up could appear, warning the user about key creation without check-in.

Hello! While it is still possible to create a key prior to check-in for pre-keying purposes, we released a new feature that should help reduce accidental key creation prior to check in when adding a room to the queue.


In v5.78, we’ve added a SKIP KEY CREATION FOR QUEUED ROOMS toggle to Settings > Reservations > Reservation Settings that will allow you to skip key creation when placing a room in queue. When enabled, the user will now be prompted to create a key when checking the reservation into the system, rather than when placing in queue.


We suggest enabling this feature to reduce human error in these instances.


Also, another suggestion to avoid no-showing guests who had a key made in the pre-key functionality would be to review the activity log before running night audit on any reservations that have not checked in. If a key creation was recorded on the activity log, that would suggest that the guest might be in the room rather than a true no-show and should be handled accordingly.


We will leave this feature request open as we understand that some hotels would like an option to remove the ability to make a key prior to check in completely (while others still want and would use the ability to make keys prior to arrival for pre-keying purposes) and will continue to consider this for future enhancement.
