MAGTEK iDYNAMO 5 CREDIT CARD SWIPER


The MagTek iDynamo 5 is a non-EMV card swipe device designed to work with all supported iOS devices. Connect any supported iOS devices to the iDynamo via Lightning connection to easily update the credit card payment method on the Rover reservation(s) via credit card swipe. Stabilizing adapters secure the iDynamo reader to your iOS devices for more reliable and stable card reading. The iDynamo provides exceptional data protection via the following security measures:


  1. MagneSafe™ security
  2. DUKPT key management
  3. Immediate tokenization of card data
  4. MagnePrint® card authentication





HOW TO CHARGE THE iPAD WHILE USING THE iDYNAMO


There are currently two workarounds for charging your iPad while using the iDynamo—one for when the iDynamo can and cannot be disconnected from the iPad. These workarounds only work when the iPad is in screen lock mode and for iPads running iOS 12.2 or iOS 12.3 beta.

 

Solution #1: When the iDynamo CAN be disconnected from the iPad

  1. Disconnect the iDynamo from the iPad. 
  2. Make sure the micro-USB cable is connected to the iDynamo and a power source. 
  3. Re-connect the iDynamo to the iPad. 
  4. The iPad will then charge normally. 


Solution #2: When the MagTek reader CANNOT be disconnected from the iPad

  1. Make sure the micro-USB cable is connected to the iDynamo and a power source. 
  2. On the iPad, go to Settings > Passcode > Enter Passcode > Turn on USB Accessories
  3. If the power button is accessible, press and hold the power button until the iPad displays the “Slide to power off” message, then power off the iPad. Once powered off, power on the iPad again, and the iPad will then charge normally. 
  4. If the power button is not accessible, go to Settings > General > Scroll all the way down and select Shut Down, which will display a “slide to power off” message; then power off the iPad
  5. Disconnect and then re-connect the power adaptor or micro USB plug. The iPad will then charge normally.
